Im due for new brake pads on my XTs and I dont know whether to go with the basic resin pads or the new fancy resin pads with the weird shark fin thing on top.

VS.

The difference between the two is mainly cost, and the finned ones are supposed to cool faster, therefore helping you stop better.

Anyone have any experience with using both and how they compare? Specifically on long sustained descents...similar to those found in the moutains??

Thanks gang.

Yeah but why spend $40 when you can get by with $15? Thats some savings right there... At least enough to buy an 18pk of pabst and a jug of pimento cheese.

Then there is the issue of metallic or resin... further down the rabbit hole we go....

My SLX brakes came stock with the Ice-tech, or 'finned' pads. When they wore out I replaced them with the normal ones, and have done many mountain rides without being able to tell the difference.
