Can anyone recommend a good 1-2 day out and back hike with a good remote campsite in the pisgah/nc highcountry area? There would preferably be a large river or stream at the site.. Thanks in advance

I would check out Panthertown outside of Toxaway. It is just outside Brevard and has some great campsites down by the river and a few good spots with waterfalls at them.

Or you could do Linville area. Lost Cove Creek is a great spot with water near camp. Took this pic in the fall there last year.

Awesome info man. I am looking for something very very primative . Ie no gravel campsites etc. This is true of these places??

Beautiful picture by the way! I am craving some seclusion in this state, I know it's here. I did 21 days when I was 17 hiking and lost my journal with all the info..

Both of these places are primitive camping. You may see a few other hikers in either area but it is true back-country camping.

PM me if you want and I can try to give you some good directions. How far per day and how many days do you want to do. You could hike most of Panthertown on a 2 night trip.
