Just curious how much of the main trail is cut off by taking the shortcut before the last climb?

It probably cuts off about .5 to .75 miles of the main loop and makes you miss the lake loop entirely (2.5 miles).  It reenters the main loop right after the wide creek bridge.  Just before you get to the big oak tree thats been down since last year.
