He's still out there.  Spotted it yesterday in the same general vicinity as the last time I saw it (about 8 minutes past the end of roller coaster).

Just thought I'd post up since I haven't heard anything about the little guy lately.

I've never seen the white squirrel. I only make it out to Sherman 3-5 times a year (only once so far this year, and that was yesterday), and I look for him every time.

He has good taste - I would argue that SB is probably the best trail in the area.

Then why only 3-5 times a year?

3-5 times a year because it is on the other side of town. I wish I could get out there more.

And no, I haven't ridden RRT yet, but it is definitely on my list.

YES! I don't seem so crazy after all!

I told my friends and they have never seen him. It is nice to know I am not alone. I saw the guy after the second cross over on the main trail. That is the only place I ever see him.

There is photographic evidence on this forum.  I've seen him a few times, he's hard to miss.  He's bright white.

I bet the White squirrel could take the copperhead!

I've heard that Chuck Norris checks under his bed at night to make sure the White Squirrel is not there. Shocked

Jens Voight has a pet white squirrel!

Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas. Chuck Norris wears Jens Voigt pajamas.  Cheesy

New guy here - do you often see snakes at Sherman? Sherman is very close to me so I tend to only go there. I know there is, of course, always a risk when in the woods, but I've never actually seen one out there.

I have seen the White One too.  There is a Brown One in BYT, but the Google says that is common, although I have only seen 1 in 50 odd years.

These brown squirrels you speak of are clearly the offspring of the Sherman white squirrel and the Beatty jet black squirrel.

Over the past 4 years, I've seen too many snakes to count, Sherman included.  I've probably seen half a dozen copperheads over that time at Sherm.  Some quite large and  scary.  Mostly, if you see a snake, it's going to be the black rat snake, which is harmless.  But you always want to check the ground if you are going to step down.

I have seen a handful over the years - the only one I suspect was a copperhead was at WWC near the lake loop but he took off into the leaves before I could get too good a look. One garter snake at Fisher, one black snake at Renni.

But I think I have some kind of disability that just prevents me from seeing them. I ride a lot, but just never notice any. I don't want to be cured. I like this disability.

Anyway, when you do see one, leave them be and I promise you they will leave you be. At Fisher, since he was in the middle of the trail, I got off the bike and walked around him, giving him plenty of space (he was there first, after all).

They make you pedal faster - much faster. Think of them as training partners.

LOL. I will have to remember that one   Wink

I rode over what I believe was a copperhead last Sunday at SB -- I did not see it until I looked down as my front wheel passed over it. I did not see it's head or tail (U-shaped on ground), so there is a chance it was not a copperhead. I sped up rather than sticking around to check it out...

I think even cooler than the white squirrel and the copperheads is the brown/grey owl that lives near the lake loop.  He's pretty active even in the morning time.

I stopped a couple of weeks ago just after that uphill jump on the main loop to check a message on my phone and saw a good sized owl just staring at me from a tree branch. I'd have never seen it if I didn't stop. It makes me wonder what kind of wildlife I ride right by without noticing.
