Is the Whitewater Center Bike Sale worth going to?

On November 8th the Whitewater Center will have it's sell off of the current rental bikes. If I am correct they do this pretty much every year. The bikes of course are maitained but I am wondering if anyone has gone to previous sales and if the prices make it worth it and fighting with potential crowds?

Thoughts?

Only if you are looking for a lower end, single speed that has completely abused for a year and moderately maintained.

Do you think they sell parts (like air forks)?

Interesting. I agree with abused part is most likely correct because people these days barely respect one another let alone a rented bicycle. I did see standard gearing Giants there the last time I rode through.

I see Trek is clearing out their 14's and want to add a 29" Hardtail as I already have a 26" Full Suspension. I am thinking I will try to make my best deal on an X- Caliber and just go with that. I was looking at this sale but don't want to wait too long and miss out on 2014 Discounts.

If the frames are in good shape, and the prices are low enough, I don't see any problem with buying one and converting it to SS to kick around the neighborhood with the kids, etc. I wouldn't go there to buy a trail bike though.

I imagine they are a lot like retired Greyhounds - their running days are past, my friend. But they are good for walks/rides with the kids.

I've thought about checking it out this year, to use as a bike to pull the trailer with.  The boy is 6 months now so thinking ahead.

Apparently, they keep bikes for two years. They'll sell their certain hard tails one year and some FS the next. I was looking for a bike for my wife last year and they weren't selling FS at the time. Think they said it would be this year.

Did anyone go?  What kind of prices and inventory did they have?  Just trying to keep up with maybe going next year.

There are several Talon 29ers, a couple 26" Trances, and a few 24" youth bikes still for sale.  Everything else sold on the day of the sale.  They're all available to view and test-ride at the Trail Center.
