I know it's short notice, but I'm going to be at my favorite west side trail at 1:30 to shake the dust off.
Tall white guy. Dark hair. Dark beard. Grey Accord. Black Trek.

If you want to check out SWDP, I'll be there.

Saw your truck - you left after my first lap (I go across the creek and up the climb before hooking a left and starting all over). I looked for you but we must have been riding at the same pace.

I like the new features. Rode the log skinny - perfect blue level feature. I got a kick (pun intended) out of the ramp over the fallen log a little farther on.

What's with the cut-through on the main (re) loop? It eliminates some of the flowiest part of the end of the loop (last quarter mile) and cuts out your TTF on subsequent laps. Are you making a short track for racing?

Trail was in good shape - keep it up. Let's get a workday soon and build a little (and fix that tabletop).

@Trekker

Hey, glad you liked the new feature. Yeah the short cut is just an experiment right now. It gives you a 1.2 mi loop that could be configured as a "bike park". Like you say, it does cut some of the nice flow at the end of the main loop, but I think the section on the north side (near the CPCC campus) is the highlight of the trail.

The main reason the trail gets little use is the location and the fact that it's small and there's not much excitement. It is by nature a smooth, flowy trail, not a technical beast. My thinking is to find a way to make the best of what it is... keep it smooth and flowy, but add some features to make it faster and more fun.

On the north side downhill section, there are two or three turns where berms would be nice. The section before that (right after the short cut) is the highest point on the trail and is a natural "plateau". In that section there might be a couple spots for some wood features.

General idea would be this:

1. Start the loop as usual
2. Hit a feature or two on the plateau
3. Drop fast on the north side
4. Twisty climb back up
5. At the short cut, decide whether to hit the "bike park" again or do the whole trail again.

Suggestions?
