opinions on shin/knee pads with Flat Pedals

I've been riding with flats for a bit now and have decided I like them.... The only thing that haunts my brain is the pins gauging my shin.... Does anyone run shin pads?  If so can you recommend a comfortable pair that will stay in place on longer rides?
Thanks

I can't imagine wearing shin pads while riding trail...way too hot, Grab some 5.10's and you should be fine!

661 rage knee/shin pads. They are soft pads so if you need to do some pedaling you are not restricted. I rarely hit my shins on my pedals though... It's usually the back of my legs which these pads won't help with.

That being said I have some troy Lee hard knee/shin pads that I've never used, still in the bag that I would let go for cheap.

These things rock! I am getting the Control or Covert(probably covert) knee pads.

But also I ride with tall socks and a pair of Teva Links. It comes with the territory to get nicked every now and then but the skills you learn are worth it!

and honestly I would wear the covert pads around here. I hit my knee one time and I was out for a week. Overkill? Maybe. But then I would like to protect myself.

Yeah....I'll be 40 this year and a life of not protecting has left me pretty dinged up so I'm just considering some "options".. Thanks for the input y'all...
