BYT conditions.

Went out for a spin this morning. Temps weren't that bad if you have the right gear. Lots of hard ice in the shade and on most of the north facing slopes. Some of the berms and bridges still had ice on them. Some of the spots on the trail were 2 inches thick in ice. I did get off the bike and walk some of the thick icy spots. I was by myself and didnt wont to risk getting hurt. Most everything in the sun was melting fast. Poo tracks were icy from the third one over. I tapped the front brake on a bridge that I came up to hot on and flew off the side onto the creek bank. Where the poo dirt is in the sun is thawing fast because it's so dark (add your own funny comment). The pipe jump just got missed getting smashed by a big tree. I didn't ride all of it. It was thawing fast. Lots of sticks down along with gumball things all over the front 1/3. I think after all this weather and freeze thaw the trail will have to stay closed for a while. So let's all be patient and let it dry out. It will take more than 24 to 48 hours to dry out. I have to save it was one of the more nerve racking/nervous rides I have done. I was by myself and ice everywhere. I also didn't make it across the service road. It was just thawing to fast. We will open it up ASAP! I believe that PRP and MD are in the same condition.

A little off subject- but just want to throw another shout out to worker-rider and everyone who does such a great job controlling this trail. My schedule is nuts- so I generally miss trail days- but help maintain parts of the trail as time permits/ hike and clear..etc- but I need to get out to an organized event.
Thanks again everyone who maintains this jewel. Smiley

We will be back out as soon as it dries up some and we get the new improved machine back and back to big berm building. Thanks to those of you who come out and lend a hand and when you are out JRA picking up sticks. On a side note it is really to wet to be riding BYT the poo dirt is saturated and will take some time to dry its a polymer thing with the dirt. By the way please don't ride when we have had this much rain/snow/ice. I was out walking around the other day near the service road and people seem to think that the trails are in good enough shape to ride lots of tire tracks and me talking to several people on bikes. We all wont to ride but have to also suffer through winter rains. We will be posting workdays soon. More rain today😡! Remember greenway starts in August!

Is that certain?  If yes, is it expected that parts of BYT will close at that time, as has been discussed previously?

As of one month ago, yes that is their plan. Saw the final plans about a month ago over at the plant. I am still waiting on P&R about setback off the greenway and other things. I do know that the crossing at the service road will move all the way to the bottom of the road. The MD side will not be touched unless Queens starts work. It looks like they are about to start work on the enterance soon. We will need help to re-route the trail when we are able to get back in.
