Brand new Captain (Control) 29 x 2.0 (folding) - Installed, but never rode on.

Literally bought this last week and when I installed it; noticed it wouldn't fit with my current derailleur setup w/o causing interference in granny gear.

I'll let it go for $45 firm if anyone on here would like to meet up for the exchange. (just paid $60 with tax)

I work in uptown and live near Huntersville, so I'm flexible.

Thanks!

Well, I was wondering the same thing at first, but it appears this tire sits slightly taller compared to my stock tire (or the Conti I have on there now) and when I dropped to the lowest gear the pull mechanism seems to move back slightly... There was just enough room to put a piece of paper between the tire and the back portion of the derailleur, so between that and my weight on the bike, I wasn't taking a chance on it catching.
Just the design of my X cal 8 frame I guess.  Believe me, I didn't want to sell it. Smiley

hmm.  sorry, I still don't get it.  the derailleur should be at least 6 inches from the tire.  Is your derailleur bent in towards the spokes?  I know it's off topic, but was just curious.

I'd be curious to see what's going on with your bike.  A rear derailleur doesn't come close to a tire especially a 29er.  Only trying to help with your issue as I've never seen tire width be an issue with a rear derailleur.  Now a front derailleur? That's another story. Smiley

No worries. Maybe this pic will help. (not my bike, I'm at work and this is the only pic I could find online).  It's the back portion of the clamp. Tire height was of concern; width wasn't an issue.
This pic shows a decent gap, but my gap was small.... (yikes, that doesn't sound right.... Shocked).
