Dish/shim a hope rear hub for brake rotor offset?

Hi All,

I just swapped brakes on my singlespeed and the brake pad is rubbing on the outside of the rotor on the rear brake.  The caliper is bottomed out in the slot with no more room to move it outboard.

SLX caliper on a IS/post adapter on a Trek Rig singlespeed swinging dropout.

I have the ability to machine some material off the adapter, but what I've done in the past is to adjust cones and/or shims on the axle to get the rotor where I need it.  Just looking at this Hope hub I don't see where the shims are.  It's a Hope SS rear bolt on hub converted to QR.

I need about .020in / 0.5mm.  Before I bring the adapter to work and put it in a mill, is there an easier way?

Pictures would be helpful to see what's going on.  May be able to offer a solution.

I can take some when I work on it tonight.

to put it more simply, the outer pad is just touching the rotor and I don't have any more room in the caliper's mounting slots to move the caliper out.

On cup/cone hubs I've been able to shim the whole wheel to get the rotor to line up, but I don't see how that works with this hub.

I have opened up a many a caliper  adjuster slots to get more room. Just don't get too carried away

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

Maybe a small, thin shim that fits between the disc side end cap and the inner race of the bearing.  I had to do something similar to a Chris King hub when they came out with their first 15mm TA front hub.  The Hope 2 piece rotor was hitting the inside of the fork leg.
