The 2015 Riverfront Classic will be happening on 05/31 at the USNWC.  If you are not familiar with this race, the first thing you need to know is that it is a fund raiser for our club. Charlotte Sports Timing puts this event together and donates the proceeds to our club to help maintain, support, and grow our trail system.  We will provide volunteer course marshals, both stationed at various points throughout the course to direct racers and also riding the course to sweep and make sure everyone is ok.  I will be organizing the volunteer efforts again this year.  Thank you to everyone who has helped in the past and now it's the time where I ask of our members to step up and volunteer some of your time to help our cause.  If you can help for an hour, great.  If you can help for half the day, awesome.  If you are there for the whole shebang and want to ride a lap afterwards just for fun, then the first beverage is on me when we are done.  We will need coverage for set up starting at 7:00am through breakdown which will probably be 2:00-3:00.  Please pm me with your name and contact info and what times you are available for.  If you are medic trained/certified, that would be awesome to know also.  We're not gonna be stitching anyone up trailside, but we will need to coordinate with Charlotte Sports Timing to have someone ride out ahead of their first aid team in the event of an emergency.  Thank you for your help.

I just want to say that this was the first race I ever did about 5 years ago.  Racing can be intimidating to get into, but this event, because it's a fundraiser, it's at the whitewater center, the day of the week, the format, it seems a bit more casual, and a lot of things, was a great way for me to get into the field of racing and made me much more comfortable competing in other more intimidating events.  I encourage all beginners or seasoned riders who haven't raced before to consider it.  You will be hooked.

I went to check out registration fee's ect at the WWC site. It's not on the WWC calender. Is that an error?

It is not a WWC race.  IT's a southern classic series race and fund raiser for the Trailblazers thanks to Neil.  Check out registration at

I'm super cheap, is there any chance that you could enter the race with out spending the $10 on One-day USAC Mountain Bike license?

I know it's petty.. but honestly needing to have something like that is a deterrent.

Since it's a sanctioned race, you must have a license to ride.  One key benefit is that the license will cover some of your insurance costs in case you are injured.

Awesome gang....looking forward to seeing all you guys on Sunday.  We are still in need of few more volunteers so if you can come out, please let Greg or I know.   You can email me at nealboyd@charlottesportscycling.com or shoot me a text at 704.575.4398.  Make sure to bring your bike as we will need numerous course marshals on two-wheels.

It's a wrap!!!  The race was a huge success, in no small part to all of our volunteers.  Tom A., Emily, Doug, Neal, Jeff, Peter, Heather, Eric, Mike L., Mike E., Big Bike Mike, Patrick, Dennis, Chris, Tom F., thank you to all of you for coming out and supporting our cause.  If I forgot you name on this list, my apologies, but please know that your efforts and hard work are truly appreciated.  I noticed a good number of racers, both new comers and seasoned vets, from our ranks out there, too.  Thanks to all of you and I hope you had as much fun racing as we did watching and supporting you!!
