Is there still a market for collectibles ?

I look at some of the collectible stores out there that specialize in things like trading cards / comic books and never seen any customers - yet the stores manage to stay in business.

Do a large number of people still actively trade in collectibles?  Just curious.  It feels as if they're just not that popular

e-bay and shows........I work with an older guy that has over 1000 baseball cards from the 40's thru the 70's, he's turned down crazy money for a few cards, dude keeps all his high end stuff in a lock box at his bank.

I have friends who still spend a good amount on comic books.  Particularly The Walking Dead.

Comics and toys are huge, and I'm pretty sure sports cards are as well as trading card games (Magic and Pokemon, for example).  A good chunk of it does take place online now, but if you go to a convention you'll be hard pressed to find space to comfortably walk there are so many people.

I can't speak for other areas of interest, but Heroes Aren't Hard to Find seems to specialize in a lot of vintage comics that carry a high price tag (and they put on Heroes Con every year uptown), and Rebel Base Comics & Toys deals with a lot of old toys, convention exclusives, and comics of all ages.
