Canfield Nimble 9 OR New Transition Trans-am?

Fully Rigid SS 29er works fine for me on Charlotte trails, but I want a PISGAH bike. I'm drinking the "progressive" 29'er hardtail 29er Kool-Aid. These two frames are so close in geometry. I am going to buy one or the other very soon but I can't decide. My heart is telling me to build a Canfield, but my wallet is telling me the stock Trans-Am is close enough. I want the following ride characteristics:

I want quick handling, and stability pointing down-hill. From what I have gathered the Canfield can't be outdone unless you go custom frame. Has anyone ridden the new Transition Trans-Am? Shorter chainstays, shorter top tubes, shorter wheelbase? we are talking about millimeters here. My biggest concern is wheelbase:
Trans-Am website says 1185mm
Canfield website says 1121mm (wheel slammed in drop-out and 100mm FOX fork or 500.8mm A/C)

----------------------------------------
net of 64 mm or ~6% difference

Transition website I guess is measuring off of a 531mm RS PIKE which I assume would extend the wheelbase? I want a RS PIKE 140. I am thinking a Canfield build will run ~$4000, and a stock TA is $2300+tax. Is this justifiable or am I crazy? Has anyone here had the chance to ride both frames?

All opinions are welcome here.

I had a Trans AM 29....It was the most fun and most comfortable hardtail I have ever owned.... I've had several frames since then and always find myself comparing them to the Transition.... Right now I'm on a Horsethief and its real nice but the Trans am just felt so connected to the trail...... Like one of those bikes that just disappears beneath you.... The bottom bracket height with a 140 fork was the perfect blend of clearance and railability....The head angle was spot on as well......

So I say Trans Am....I may be in the minority though....I also prefer the more conservative look of the Trans Am.... Just shouts "solid bike" to me.... You can truly ride it all day....

Older Kona Honzo is a BA bike but I do not like the new frame.  The NINER ROS 9 frame is a little long in a few areas. Is the On One Parkwood steel or aluminum ?

The Parkwood is an Aluminum frame. On One does make a steel frame but it is a 650b. It looks sweet though.

The new Honzo does look less appealing than last year's model but I still love the look!
