Saw an REI ad that said they would soon start peddling Ghost mountain bikes. Engineered in Germany.

Anybody know anything about the brand?

Had a chance to ride one?

I think REI is the first to bring them over. I remember reading about it a while back.

I bought one two weeks ago, a Kato 5.  It's a 27.5 hard tail for under $1100.  I had been in the market for a while and the salesman at REI mentioned them to me in January.  After checking them out online I waited to make any purchase until I saw them in person.  The other bikes I was considering where the Scott Scale 760, Trek X-Caliber 7, and Cannondale Trail 1.

Frankly, I could not find out too much about them online.  They are a small company, not owned by someone else. Been around for around 20 years.  Popular in Europe.  Has a race team.  They had been kept out of the US Market because of patent conflicts with Specialized.

I love the bike, but I was coming from a 2003 Specialized Rockhopper.

Reviews I've read on European/UK cycling sites are positive.

At the moment REI is the exclusive US retailer.
