Roof-top cargo boxes and Craigslist

Howdy,

Does anyone have any insight into the frequency of roof-top cargo box listings on Craigslist for the Charlotte area?  I want one to haul lightweight camping gear like sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, and tents.  I need to buy one for a trip in late July.

I have a 2014 5-door Subaru Impreza Sport Premium hatchback with the factory aero rails.

Thanks,
-Clay

Bought one for my '11 outback a few years back.  Just regularly scanned craigslist for a week or so and snagged one of these for $100.  Doesn't say "Thule" or "Yakima", but works perfectly.

They rarely come up.  I waited for like 6 months and didn't see any, so we just bought new.

Got a truck so sold mine or else I'd let you use it.

I trolled CL for a while looking for a Thule Atlantis 1600.  I eventually found someone selling a BMW 460 roof box (made by Thule) for $200.

Lady still had the receipt for ~$900.

Definitely one of the most useful accessories I have purchased.  It is awesome for hauling extra gear, snowboards, etc. especially when we visit family on holidays.

As for storing it, I used one of the $10 bike hoists that I had along with a pair of 1" tie down straps to keep it out of the way while not in use.  Smiley

I had one of those lean-on-wall bike stands for several years that looked like yours.  I left it at Sherman so it would find a new home after growing too tired of it being in the way in the garage.
