This looks like it only impacts the lower end bikes and also looks like you would really have to have your wheel on your bike incorrectly to make this happen (so loose the wheel could fall off).  Just thought I would post since I didn't see it on the board yet. Safe riding everyone!

We install the quick release lever on the drive side of all the disc bikes we sell so that would keep the lever out of the rotor as well.

Rumor is that other companies will fall in line with the same recall soon.

just saw this too.  crazy that it took this long for them to recall them.

good call on installing the lever on the drive side.  I'll be sure to do that from now on!

It's only a problem with users that don't use it correctly. No parts actually failed.

Your answer should be...

Quote:
If you are concerned come on in and we will be happy to take a look at it.

Trek just spent millions of dollars driving consumers back into retailers.  What happens when they get there is determined by the quality of the sales staff.

Good luck.

Yes, there is a lot of great opportunity and the consumer receiving a $20 gift card from Trek is a nice touch as well. We have taken lots of time with our customers explaining the recall. I was stopped twice in the grocery store last night o discuss it as well.

I was thinking the same thing.

Why would anyone put the clamp on the disk side in the front?

On the rear this is not so much of a problem. I can not find a way to orient the clamp to where it would contact the rotor if open.

Looks like other companies have decided to join the recall as well.
