Anyone familiar with this trail? I'm gonna be near Boone in a couple weeks and the doc says I can get back on a bike finally... any other suggestions in the Boone / Jefferson area?

RKP lives up to it's name, very rocky.  It's around 4 miles of climbing followed by 3.5 miles of decent.  There are a couple of skills areas about half way up that help break up the ride.  It's a fun place to ride.  The Wilkes trails are about 30 minutes from Boone.

As a side note Rocky Knob got some press in the latest issue of Bike Mag....

As the previous post stated there is a fairly substantial climb followed by a glorious decent. I loved it there. I went back every day I stayed in the area, and hope to go again.

The climb is littered with rock gardens and mildly technical areas. The decent is very fun. It has a couple drops and some well designed jumps. You can take them at serious speed and grab some air or be more conservative and simply roll over them.

I'd highly recommend it to any one in that area.

Thanks guys. Saw it on MTBProject... love how it climbs out, then drops back.

The rocks have me a bit worried... just recovering from an appendectomy and I'm supposed to ease back onto the bike. Maybe I'll go fly fishing instead  Roll Eyes
