Pretty tall for a MTB rim. I measured it @ 584

For folks building up wheels for the 29er+ platform, what width rim are you going with?  35?  50?  Or somewhere in the middle?  Surly recommends at least a 35 mm width, not sure about Vee, Bonty or Maxxis.

I've got some 40 Nexties on the way. 35 is just enough. However, I am running a 3.0 ChupaCabra on my Carbon 30mm right now with no issues. The wider rims tend to stablize the tire a little better at low PSI.

Those Nexties look real nice, and pretty light.  The Duallys and the Rabbit Holes are SO heavy.

so what your saying is your impressed with my leg length and that I Think big wheels are fun. cool

the 40mm are great at low pressure, even at zero it's almost impossible to break a bead loose. unlike my stans and I9 rims where I let the air out and the bead separates, these stay very much engaged and require a large amount of force to break them loose. I would say this ability to hold a bead at lower pressures  is great for big tire. 29x 3.0 is very stable at 12 psi.  I'm 187lbs so lower pressures are achievable with a lighter body weight. I would also say 13-14 psi would be better for an aggressive ride (race).
I also mounted up a 2.35 Ikon for the rear(not pictured) and have not yet ridden it. (wouldn't fit the rear of my old niner). It does fit the pivot with plenty of room left over. I hope to get out on it in the next few days and will post up my thoughts.

I heard that front wheel has some trail miles on it already. Wink  Compliments of Hot Rod. Smiley

Thanks Fred! so far it's been a good bike, I have to say my favorite set up is with a 150mm pike, and the 2.35 ikon on the 40mm rims. I would be comfortable taking it anywhere. I like my rigid riding but an elbow issue has me nursing it right now.

Mark,  Rod has been testing the fat and girthy world of 29+ but on a different wheel and tire. Haven't seen him in a long while, miss riding with him and Jer, heck I miss riding more in general.  Hope to head to WW at 2:00 today for a little play time
