I am embarrassed to say this but I have never been out there. I have heard so much good stuff about this place but every time I make plans to get out there something changes those plans. Can anyone fill me in on some of the highlights of what I am about to get myself into out there? Heading out in an hour or so

So what are your initial impressions?

Initial impressions are that it is an amazing trail that has incredible work done. With that said....nothing as evil as the stairway to heaven should ever have the word heaven in it. The trail is definitely one of a kind and a place where you learn quickly how good of a climber you really are but the rewards coming down are pretty sick although I still haven't decided whether I cussed more on the stairway to heaven or no name.

I remember my first ride there. I was like "no name.. can't be that bad he didn't even bother to name it."

I had a few names for it by the time I reached the top...

Haha yeah I'm with you on that one! My thoughts were very close to that. My names I was spitting out during it required ear muffs for any children nearby lol but it is legit and a lot of fun

Rrt is my go to since it is the closest trail to my house. I am by no means fast on the climbs but they arnt so bad once you know what to expect and they are short and punchy so you at least are over it quick. I think rrt has the best mix of trail in the area and is 100% natural which I prefer to the machine built.

Yeah I can see that. I saw the signs but then again you think how bad can it be but yeah if you know exactly what is coming you can prep with the right speed and gear. If it wasn't so far from Mooresville it would definitely be a go to for me as well.

The trail today might have been in the best shape I've seen it.

He said it on a previous post that section was not on his property and new renters of that property were concerned.

It sucks to loose that little part as it screws up the downhill after the climb but it is what it is.  I'm all about keeping the neighbors happy.

Props to Steve. Enjoyed riding the trail last week, it was in excellent shape.

My favorite for endurance and climbing work outs.

Love the viaduct for the most unique feature.

Glad I got to talk with Steve at the end of my ride!
