Hollywood Racks??

Looking to get a 4 bike platform style hitch rack that folds up.  What do you all think about Hollywood Racks?
Or I guess the real question is what do you recommend, and what should I stay away from?

No info on the company but I prefer racks that hold the bike by the tires, not the frame.

agree.  racks that hold the frame will almost always wear through the paint.

It depends on your budget and how much you expect to use it. I googled that rack and it looks like a couple of others, such as Sport Rack and one sold by Performance. I own a 4 bike rack similar to that one...I don't need it often (I put my bike in the bed of my truck unless I'm taking others) and to me it didn't warrant paying twice as much. With my level of use I've had no problem wearing the paint (yet!). I would, however, suggest making sure that the sliding part that holds the bike uses a ratcheting action rather than a knob to tighten it. Mine has the knob and can loosen during the course of a drive. Also, before buying make sure your vehicle can handle a 4 bike rack; my wife's car won't.

All that said, the more expensive ones are more expensive for a reason. They're better. Whether it's worth it depends on you.

I just bought one similar but through Saris that tightens on the tires. I used my 20% off coupon from REI that you get bi annually as a member. It is a little more but I have a feeling it is going to last alot longer and has an intergrated lock on the hitch and a cable for the bikes.

Thanks for the info.  I drive a 3/4 ton truck, so 4 bikes on the hitch is no problem.  I would only be using the rack when the family rides, which isn't often, when it is just me the bike goes in the bed of the truck.

I have the Hollywood 2+ 2 platform rack and have used it for a year now about 2x a week.  I would give it a 8/10 and consider it a great value.  The thing is really well made, very adjustable, carries 4 bikes no problem, no marks, or issues.  I am pretty sure it will outlast me.  I have a friend that recommended this rack to me and his is a couple years old and he would give you the same feedback.  The one drawback is it is really heavy even without the additional 2 bike rack.  Would be difficult for a kid or smaller women to put on and take off solo.

Hope that helps.
