SWDP lost trail recovery kickoff -- Sunday, May 17

About 400 feet or so of new trail is needed at SWDP to recover the 1500 feet (or so) of trail recently lost to the road grading.

I need help getting this kicked off... this Sunday I would like to:

1. Survey the area and decide on a route for the new section
2. Flag the route
3. Begin rough vegetation removal

I could use a string trimmer if someone has one... I have a couple of machetes, loppers, blower, rake, etc and the flags.

If you can help, please meet me out there at 10am Sunday.

Thanks!   Smiley

You can borrow the trimmer from Fisher if you need it.  Has 3 metal/plastic blades on it that cut brush like nobody's business!

I won't be getting back into town until probably late on Saturday, but I'll try and get out there Sunday morning. I haven't been to SWDP since the road clearing took out part of the trail. I'm eager to get this place back into my after work rotation!

Pat, I hope you get lots of help! I have a family reunion Saturday, so I need to spend Sunday working on Fox loop at LNSP.

Cheesy ¡ TAMALES !  Cheesy

I am bringing fresh tamales as usual... come help get this trail section back, have some fun and enjoy some tamales!

I have tools... bring gloves and water... you may want to consider wearing long pants. The work area is close to CPCC, so if you are bringing tools you may want to park there. If you are riding, parking at the Rec Center is best. The trail is in great shape, so riding is a good idea!

Thanks!

Big thanks to Greg, Paul, Orin and Tom who showed up out there and worked so hard today. The new route is mostly in place! Over the next couple weekends I will be doing some finish work and then complete the connector.

It's looking like this trail will end up being better than before the bulldozers came in!

That is going to be a fun and fast new section.  Thanks to all that came out and a HUGE thanks to Pat and Tom for helping me clear leaves and debris over at Renni when we were done here.  I'll get the connector and short track area one evening this week.

Gonna have to check this out soon. Wish I could have made it, but I had late nights Friday and Saturday coupled with a long drive. Hopefully next time!
