Since were on a bicycle site...

Bicycles + Green ways = Brew tours

One nice afternoon you can get More than your taste of multiple brews from South blvd thru uptown to Noda.

This map is a bit outdated but easy to see.

We were doing this bike brew tour of our own one weekend day - and a BUS of Tour'ers were linking the same places -  Pretty big train wreck when they showed up to the pubs later in the afternoon ... A bit too much!

Olde Mecklenburg (OMB) has a decent tour, and they're supportive of the local bicycling scene. the new location is really nice, too.

OMB beer is good for what it is, traditional German beers that follow the Reinheitsgebot (only ingredients allowed are water, malts, hops, and yeast). Don't go there for imperial grapefruit IPAs, chocolate peanut butter porters, bourbon barrel aged breakfast stouts, or blackberry brettanomyces sours. Do go there for pilsners, weissbiers, baltic porters, and the like.

The atmosphere at OMB can't be beat. It's not my favorite beer in Charlotte, but it may well be my favorite brewery to visit.

Birdsong used to do free afternoon tours, not sure if they still do since they have moved. We got a tour of the new facility for a TUB Ride before they moved, They will now how plenty of room to expand. TUB Ride tonight to Birdsong leaveing QCB at 6:30

Good topic.  Can anyone recommend a good brewery to tour known for porters, stouts, lagers?  I'm a fan of good dark beers.

I agree.  German beers are hardly my favorite but they're damn good compared to other German beers.

The only tour I've been on in Charlotte was at NoDa's location about two years ago.  It was a disappointing "tour" but the beer made up for it.

Not in Charlotte but if you are ever around Brevard the Oskar Blues tour is pretty cool.
