NINER Bikes- anybody ride one?

Print Post
Hi,

I'm in the market for a new bike.  Curious if anyone has ridden the NINER(brand) bikes?  I've only heard good things, but have not seen anyone in CLT area riding one.

**I don't mean to start a 29'er debate here, just looking for beta on the bike company itself.

Thanks!

Never heard of them, do they make 27.5 bikes?

JK

I am not sure if I have gone on a ride in CLT and not seen one, it might be the concentration is further north?

I had a Sir Nine and Upnover was nice enough to lend me his Air9 for one of the cackalacky 500 races.

Good bikes, but the sizing is a little different.  I ride a Large Specialized and Turner but fall right in between a Med and Large Niner.

Go ride one.

I've got a Jet 9 RDO and LOVE it.  It's a XC race bike, but I put a 120mm fork on it and it's the best bike I've ever owned.  Everyone has their own brand/fit preferences, but I don't think you'd be disappointed.  They tend to do Niner demo days once or twice a year, I'd encourage you to check that out (last one was at WWC).  Else, find a few folks that own Niners and ask them to take a lap on theirs.

On the fit side, I rode a 19" Trek/Fisher and Specialized.  I'm 5'10" and the medium Niner fits perfect for me.

I'm pretty sure the CyclePath rents them.

I have an Air 9 and have run it SS and Geared.  Great Bike.  I'm 6'2 and can ride a XL or L.

Rode a mix of One 9, Air 9, and Jet 9 for the last 10 years even before Niner's were popular. Great bikes IMHO. Sizing all in the eye/butt of beholder. I'm 5 10 and ride Large Niners and Specialized.

I have a brand new never ridden in bubble wrap and box large Air 9 warranty frame I've been keeping as a backup, color red/slate. $400 firm/bottom dollar if interested.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm still in saving mode, but the info keeps NINER top of the list.

I own an RLT9, so my opinion likely won't count as much as others with actual mountain bikes, but I do love it.  My only complaint is that the paint chips pretty damn easily - and that's just from road riding!

I've seen plenty around Charlotte on Niners and haven't really heard a bad thing about them.  Price wise they seem to have a bit of a premium over the larger brands like Specialized and Trek, but they're still pretty good deals.  Their carbon warranty that's offered is excellent as well.

I'm by no means an expert on anything really, but I couldn't be happier with my jet 9 carbon...When I needed a frame replacement last summer I thought it was going to be a hassle I was amazed that I had a new frame in 4 days... No questions or drama... Every time I've spoken to someone at  Niner they are always helpful and a pleasure to deal with... The fact that they build great bikes and stand by their products is a great feeling
