Firewood still available at BYT?

Anyone know if that firewood is still available at BYT?  I know they cut down a ton of trees a month or so ago for the Greenway and there was some wood available.  Anyone have details?  I need to snag some firewood for a camping trip this weekend and I'd hate to steal it from a buddy of mine..

Yes it is but you can't get to it right now. Another place to snag some wood is behind the substation at park road park you might need a truck to get to it. Their is a little driveway on the left hand side of the substation and all of the wood is on the left side underneath the power lines. Last time I looked there was a bunch still on the ground. You might need a saw to cut some of it. Let me know how it goes. The trees at BYT were cut by duke energy for something else. We have a meeting today with parks and rec to find out more about the greenway and when they are going to start cutting the trees down.

Is the wood at the substation free to take?  I don't want to go trespassing... I have a truck, so I assume you mean off-roading purposes.

As far as I know it's free they don't charge me. They usually just leave it to rot. Just don't go poking around at the substation and you should be fine. Lots of deer where you will be getting the wood from and check out the BIG rock garden in that set of woods. Your truck will save you from walking it out. The undergrowth might have grown back up some.

Awesome, thanks!  I'm going to grab a load of it tomorrow.
