Still not in every ones price range.  I think once they get sub 1k, we will start seeing them more.

I'm not going to lie I've wanted one to hook my sons bike trailer too, for when we use it to go grocery shopping.  Now you'd never see me on the trail with it.

I hate to say it, but it looks pretty cool. ))

Perhaps the ideal mountain bike commuter.

I don't see a weight listed. I'm curious to as to its top speed on level pavement.

Is it considered a moped? I know N.C. is going to require licensing and liability insurance for mopeds in the near future.

Fifty pounds and 28 mph max. 20 mph when pedaling. 6 mph motor only. I would presume that is on flat paved surface. The implication is that is only for improved surfaces.  Either way it will give Fred another way to screw up on a trail.
I can hardly wait.

The review suggests taking it off road in Colorado, Arizona and Utah. That oughta work.

I liked the movie "120 Hours" don't need to see a sequel. Wink

50 lbs? )))

Imagine that at Sherman.

The weight penalty clearly isn't worth it for trail riding.

Again, sounds like a decent option for a commuter who doesn't want to sweat so much on the way to work. But a serious trail bike? Clearly not unless something radically changes with the design.

Just give 'em time. ))

I wonder if it will fall under the new and upcomming registration and possible insurance requirements for mopeds?  It has a motor.....

Apparently not yet. But it appears to be sort of a gray area.

Currently, a moped is described as having a top speed of 30 mph.

Since it looks more like a bicycle, I doubt the law will pay much attention to it.

Ebikes are not allowed on any trail that strictly prohibits "Motorized Vehicles".  It has an electric motor (pedal assist or otherwise) and therefor falls into the category of "Motorized Vehicle".

In short, they are not allowed on the MTB trails anywhere locally.  If you see one then nicely give the rider that information and direct them to the nearest green way.  If they get nasty, then kindly report it to the local land manager or PD.  Smiley

I'm sorry but I just can't get into the "e-bike" buzz...  I already have a dirt bike and I have no interest in scooters/mopeds.  Bicycles are supposed to be pedal powered.  In my opinion it defeats the purpose of what the point of a bicycle is.  Self propelled fun!  Putting a motor on a bicycle doesn't make it a motorized bicycle...  It makes it a scooter/moped.
