I don't usually like to reveal my diet secrets.   Cool

But who else is addicted to the salad bar at Harris Teeter?

I'm addicted to salad in general not even as a diet method. I eat just fish, rice and veggies in any combination possible. oh and sometimes chicken. oh and lots and lots of protein powder.

Ah, the Filipino diet. Everything boiled or steamed.

Yes, I am intimately familiar. Cheap, filling and nutritious.

I switched to brown rice a while back. I get the parboiled variety. Take 10 minutes prep.

My diet is varied. I eat everything from Five Guys to Taco Bell occasionally, Salaritos as much as possible, to lots of baked and steamed fish at home. But lately I've become addicted to Harris Teeters salad bar. It's a 10.

If you haven't tried it, you should check it out.

Oh, and I can munch the heck out of some hot dogs at Kangaroo too, while I'm filling up my Roo cup. And don't mention TCBY.

I get a little frozen yogurt to go with my nuts. Smiley

Why not get a rice cooker? Just curious. I have a rice cooker and always keep brown rice prep'd for quick and easy heat up for a meal. takes 30 minutes, its a set and forget and rice is like $0.76 for 2 pounds.

I agree. If you eat a lot of rice a rice cooker is a great investment.

I don't really eat enough rice to really justify taking up the counter/cabinet space with it. I have a spartan kitchen and do almost everything with a stock pot/steamer on the stove.

Although I will admit do have a Vitamix. And it isn't going any place.

That's interesting. ))

Healthy hot dogs?

You found a local source for these, or do you have to order them?

That's got to have enough sodium in it to kill most people. ))

Not to mention BPA.

I've been trying to limit the canned stuff lately. Can't eliminate every thing in a can, like kipper snacks, but I'm doing my best.

I don't know about 7th Day Adventists (just kidding, I work with one who is overweight and smokes and wheezes when she laughs), but I'm a 3 Day Pescetarian... I knew I could never go vegetarian, or give up meat entirely, but I can cut my consumption nearly in half....

Also helps to choke down a green smoothie every day. Get a nutri-bullet, I never thought I would be able to eat Kale or drink almond milk, but when you huck it into a smoothie with grapes and bananas and strawberries and blueberries etc. etc. It's not so bad.

I find I ride and run faster, farther, and longer when I'm getting proper nutrition.

Sundays are still for bacon though.... mmmmmmmhhhhmmmm baaaaccoooon....

Oh I know what a 7th Day Adventist is and all about the diet, I grew up as one. I just don't know why a book store is selling canned vegetarian food.

This caught my curiosity... you got to ask yourself - how does a whole chicken fit in a can right?  So I googled it and I got to say just the image of the chicken getting dumped out of the can may have possibly ruined my appetite for the day... wonderful fasting diet secret, thanks!

FWIW Amazon reviews says its delicious!

Grew up Seventh Day Adventist as well.  Even went to one of the schools until 8th grade.  No sodas, meat or processed food were allowed for lunch.  I pretty much ate peanut butter, egg salad and cheese sandwiches everyday for lunch for eight years Sad

My family was did not adhere to the diet at home though.  The church was pretty much the only source for vegetarian meals in my small town, so they had a lot of business selling frozen and canned vegetarian items.

I was lucky in that my family was " 7th Day Adventist Church goers" and at home everything was fair game. We just had vegetarian influenced diet. And Absolutely no pork and processed food
