A mountain biker, who doesn't ride road, has no legs, A road biker, who doesn't mountain bike, has no soul.

Dirt good.
Road good.
BIKE GREAT.
It's all about finding YOUR style and not worrying about anybody else.

Just follow the Go-Dirt Rules of Riding Style:
Rule #1: YOU are #1
Rule #2: Riders that ride to out perform others are #2
Rule #3: A full kit don't mean s--t!

It's all about fun bro!

I also think it may be a good idea to ask a group of road bikers their opinion.  Not saying the opinions here aren't valid also, just a different perspective.

Most mountain bikers I've talked to tell me I'm crazy for road biking.

But then again, a lot of roadies I've talked to tell me they don't want to mountain bike because it's dangerous.  All about perspective I suppose.

Ive done a good bit of both over the past several years. I find it hard to find a good balance of the two together unless you can get a LOT of pedaling time in on each. I enjoy both for different reasons, road biking isn't much fun to me if im by myself like mountain biking is. But with a good group or on new routes, I really enjoy roadbiking with a few other people to ride with.

Riding on the road IS more dangerous in heavily trafficked areas, and I have had 2 close calls but nothing like some people have been through. On the other hand, I don't mtb enough to stay tuned up and every time I went out id eat it at least once or twice, so theres that too.  Sad

I still think this is a good place to ask the question.  Many of us road bike and mtn bike.  If I'm being honest w/ myself I road bike more than mtn....  I love both though and they both have their own dangers/benefits.

Thanks for the replies...I may give it another go soon.... The reason I asked here was because I figured I would get the perspective of the mtb community.... Pretty sure most roadies would say it was fun or they wouldn't be doing it...

Riding bikes is fun, but only so long as you don't go full roadie like JPcoates!!!!!

Good, casual group rides, and big tires certainly help make it funnerer for me.

Road biking is really fun on a mountain bike in the woods.
