Worst thing I heard about it was the seals leaked (1st gen) and if they didn't leak it would be a perfect dropper.

My '14 cannondale trigger 29er came with a hi-lo.  I'm 6'3", and 230 all geared up and tend to ride like a sack of hammers through the woods.  Been on that bike since last september and use the dropper a ton.  It has worked perfectly with zero issues.  I'll probably be doing a rebuild towards the end of the summer to ensure that it keeps working that way.  X-fusion has got great step by step vids for it here:
