What are some rules/recommendations you guys use when it comes to passing and/or getting passed by others?  I am looking at attending one of the Charlotte mountain bike series races and check it out. I want to get a feel of how things are run as I would be a first timer rider.

I bought a bike about a month ago or so. I have a background of racing quads, but don't want to be in someone's way.  Any info is appreciated.

Nothing to it.  The faster guy behind calls his pass.  Should be something like On the right or On the left so the rider in front knows what is about to happen.  Keep in mind that it is up to the rider behind to make a clean pass and the rider in front doesn't have to slow down for him but sometimes it comes down to common courtesy.

I do the beginner registration for the Wednesday races. I'll give you the advice you need to get started.

Before you've raced it seems like passing would be an issue, but its really not. Just register and race - you likely won't be able to "see it" watching a race.

Being you've raced quads you will find passing is not the bar banging experience that is common in quad, mx or enduro racing.

Government has no reason to use common sense or be efficient as it pays no price for failure.
