Thanks for the demo. Every one was super friendly and very helpful. A great experience overall.

I took out a Remedy. This was my first ride on a 29" (ever). I currently own a Santa Cruz Blur LTc.

They asked that we only be out 30 minutes. I entered at the gravel rode to the left of the ropes courses. I rode carpet, tower 98 (x4), wedge, then up the goat climb and exited at the top near slalom (skipped goat downhill). Then back to the parking lot.

Here are my feelings about the bike. I am no expert, I have only been riding for a few years. I would consider myself intermediate in ability.

The positives:
It had a 2x11, so when I was sucking wind it was very forgiving. The pedaling was very efficient, just like my bike. At high speeds it was ridiculously smooth. This was easily the highlight of riding this bike. Traction was great, while standing, in short steep climbs.

The not-so positives:
At lower speeds the bike felt.. clumsy. It just didn't feel as agile as my bike in slower tight areas. In the air the bike felt really stiff. I did 4 laps on tower 98 adjusting the settings and once it was dialed in it took to the air just fine, it just felt "stiff" in the air. I'm not sure how else to explain it.

Overall it was a great bike. It didn't have any negatives, it was more of a preference discrepancy. I'm just not sold on that wheel size for how I like to ride. I would, at some point, like to take out a 27.5. They had some there, but when I got back they were all signed out and I didn't have the time to hang out and wait. All in all it was a great experience and I am thankful for the staff that came out and set this up!

I was out there with 2 friends and we had a blast! Two of us (Me & friend A) are just recreational/"fun exercise" riders the other (friend B) has never done any real MTB'ing. We got there a few minutes after 10a, long line but we were able to get out there on bikes in short time. We did a short ride on South trails and Carpet, then ate lunch and were able to do a little longer ride hitting the slalom too. Bikes we rode:

Me: EX 9.9 & Remedy 9.8
Friend A: Remedy 9.8 & Pro Caliber 9.8
Friend B: Top Fuel 9.8 & Remedy 9.8

I loved the EX 9.9, it felt very quick, easy to climb, smooth on the rough stuff and stable through everything. I was very excited to ride the Remedy considering it's longer travel but it felt clunky and slow though very easy on the rough stuff and slalom. I'm on a new hardtail 29er and love it, really like the 29" wheels coming from a 26", and when I do go to a full susp I will certainly look at the EX!

Friend A liked the Remedy a lot but having only ridden an entry-level 26" hardtail he was loving the 29" wheels and air fork more than anything. He liked the Pro Caliber on everything but the slalom, of course. I tried it out briefly and it climbed incredibly well but I wasn't a big fan of the geometry.

Friend B was spoiled getting to ride two high end full suspension bikes so he was grinning ear to ear when he was complaining about how not running in a year has ruined his cardio. I'm working on getting him to get a bike and start riding, this was a big help!

The experience was awesome, bikes were excellent, the people were all super nice and gladly set each bike up for you (pedals, suspension, saddle)! Spoke to a couple guys for a few min about the bikes and they were very informative/helpful even though we were clear we were not really in the market currently. Although we aren't in the market right now, this was a great sales technique to get us thinking/wanting. Got a free water bottle and some coupons out of it too! Thanks to all involved in setting this up!

I took the remedy out and was blown away.  Huge improvement over the aluminum one that I rode a couple years back.  That new rear shock is amazing.  I am considering buying one now.  I was all set to buy a tallboy LT but now I am considering the Trek.  I was blown away by how well it pedaled for a bike with that much travel.

Just had time to come back and read the comments.  Thanks for the folks that took the time to tell everyone about their experiences at the Demo and on the bikes.

We really appreciate it and will work on getting another Demo scheduled - most likely in the spring.

We will look forward to seeing everyone in the stores.

Thanks,

Mike

I would ride both before making a purchase decision Wink
