I know the rain was spotty yesterday and this morning. So does anyone know what the status of BYT is?

Anyone know the status of the new jumpline being planned / built and where to find the site for that line on the property?  I hear the jumps are going to be bigger than the current jumps on the jumpline and that a dozer is being used to build them up?

Also, if you have hit the gap jumps recently, I'd appreciate your sharing some tips about how to hit them in their current state.  Can one get enough speed on a downhill bike to get up the wooden ramp and clear the first one?  Is the second one, the dirt one, built up enough to allow for clearance with no pedal stroke after hitting the first one?  Is one line better than another for clearing?

The jumps will be in what I call the old motorcycle track and it is the front 1/3 of the property. A mini ex and 2 other machines will eventually make it out. Machines will also make their way around property to do other things while we have them. 3 lines planned that I we have walked many times. Working on finding a place for container to store machines in while not in use. You would have to be shown where lines are. Unless you know the property pretty well. Trails will be getting redone for the greenway about the same time this is going on. I am waiting to hear back from plant manager to where I can have container dropped. As for size of jumps I know of 4 tabletops on a beginner line that will dump you back onto the trail and the 2 others will have bigger gap jumps and berms and I think will be contained in the piece of property. Paul would you correct me here if I am wrong. I am going to also get that big table top done when we get poles out and machines to drag them into place. Tim has 3/26 foot telephone poles for me now. Just can't move them without lots of help. We will posting workdays throughout the winter for these projects and putting up signs at trailhead. Keep an eye out on the forums for times and dates. Lots and lots of work this winter. As for the jumps you guys who jump them help this guy out. But I have seen tons of people jump them on all different kinds of bikes and different ways. Just go FAST!

The gap jump is pretty simple to hit as long as you can get over the mental block and have plenty of speed.  It's honestly just a bigger cannon jump.  If you can hit one or both of the side-by-side cannons and clear the transition, you'll have no problem with the gap jump.  I wouldn't hit it on my downhill bike just because it's twice as difficult to get up to speed than my trail bike...that plus the jumps are built very well and you don't need the extra suspension...at all.  The second jump is just as simple and requires no pedaling in between but be sure not to grab a handful of brakes either.  It took me 5-10 times of the first jump before I hit the second one but everyone's different and you know your comfort level better than anyone.  I wouldn't recommend hitting it solo at first but also don't let someone push you to do something you aren't quite ready for.  Two cents given.  Let me know next time you're planning on going out there.

I don't know if it's that I'm tired by the time I get to it, or it's just tough to get speed for, but I case the holly bush jump (the one to the left of the little drop towards the end of the main trail) everytime I hit it.

The pipe dream jump and the one following it could easily be hit on a dh bike I think. Especially since the run up has been fixed up. If you skip the little jump at the very top of the hill it's easy to pedal and get a lot of speed going into the pipe jump.

I've found that if you crank hard in to the first little double and clear it nicely you don't actually have to pedal at all after that... just pump and flow all the way (thanks yeti Matt for that tip). I hit the second jump to the right as the lip to the left is too big for the jump and I suspect would send you in to the bushes.

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. Man, that's great to hear the new jumplines are going to really happen.  Dream come true, for those of us who like to fly.  You guys making this a reality, you've got my total respect.
