Where does the thread trail really end?

Hadn't ridden the CTT at the WWC in a long while. Several years ago, I remember riding it as it grew (first it ended just after the road crossing, then right after you came out of the open field, then I remember it ending in a little loop near the road). In the years since, I remember hearing about it  getting bigger. Rode it a few weekends ago and only got a little over 4 miles round trip out of it. Still seems to end by the road where you can either go right and climb a small hill or go left and then climb the back of the hill by the road and descend. This trail was blazed with pink markers.

At the top of this trail (where it ends) there is another trail that begins blazed with blue. But when I started to ride it it was all overgrown and covered with debris. Didn't look like it was intended for bikes.

So where does the trail end out there? How long round trip?

It ends at the road the goes past the elementary and middle schools.  The one you turn left off of to go to the center.  Where I park and ride in from so as not to have to pay to park. Smiley

Glad you added this section of the Thread Trail to MTBProject, but you need to rename it  The Carolina Thread Trail is a series of iterconnected trails, greenways and blueways and is already over 100 or 200 miles in total.  Give this section a location name as a section of the CTT.

I rode the CTT section off of Walnut Creek Park in Lancaster today.  My son was playing in a baseball tournament and knew I would have some down time, so I brought my bike.  I was pleasantly surprised.  Not at all technical, but it has some elevation change and good flow.  3.5mi each way, I got a nice little 14 mile ride on a day I thought would be bike free.

So... it ends where I said? Lol. Looks on the map like it ends right there on the road. I'm just wondering what the blue flagged trail connected to it is (maybe just part of the hiking/walking CTT)?

I heard quite a while back that they're planning on adding more.

One day the "Thread Trail" will be an interconnected web of singletrack, greenways, etc....spreading across many counties.  There are lots of completed sections, but they do not yet connect.

Their website is (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links);

The piece of the Thread Trail connected to USNWC will one day be expanded further and connect to other trail corridors, however, those responsible for the Thread Trail project have not shared that information with me.  It is my understanding that when it does expand, it will follow the creek underneath the road and continue onward in that direction.

There are no official trail corridors going beyond the current end of the Thread Trail.  There is an illegal 4-wheeler trail that parallels Belmeade Rd. from the Thread back to the powerline corridor, and there is a web of logging roads criss-crossing the adjoining property.  None of these trail corridors are on Thread Trail or USNWC property, and are not meant to be accessed as such.

Please stick to the trail provided.  The adjoining parcel is Private Property.

I just rode out and found the "blue flagged trail" mentioned earlier in the post.

The trail corridor in question goes onto private property.  It is the remnants of an old 4-wheeler path that does not seem to be in use any longer.  The blue flags do not correspond to any current trail expansion plans.

The beginning of the corridor does look as though it's seen a lot of traffic lately, yet it fizzles out within 20 or 30 yards and disappears.  I attribute this to many people, like the one who started this post, who noticed the corridor, explored it far enough to find that it went nowhere, then returned to the actual trail.
