Would you be happy if a golf course shut down 3 holes for renovations?  Playing a 15 hole course isn't quite as interesting.

I realize the thread trail can still be ridden, but having the thread trail connected to the wwc system increases the value proposition for the wwc.  Not many will go ride the thread trail just to ride the thread trail.  People will still ride the wwc even though it's only 17 now, but two laps at Sherman, Rocky River and maybe even Anne Springs sounds better to me now.

Whether they would like to claim the thread trail or not, it seems crazy to me to close 100 feet of trail that prevents access to an additional 7 miles, especially when that 7 miles makes you a destination.

Golf courses put temp greens in all the time When they overseed and aerate.... that's all 18 holes and 1 round on those crap greens would still be more than an annual pass the WWC....Would I be happy? Sure if f I had good company....I tend to take things in stride though...I'm a simple country boy. Smiley

complaning about a trail closed that's reciveing an update, maintence, safety reason sound quite toddlerish to me. It amazes me of the amount of Internet stupidity that exist these day. ride what's open twice, go somewhere else, build something, go volunteer for a good cause or sit at home on your computer and whine to the world about how upset you are about 1 section of a trail that's temporaly closed.  you choose

if you want to ride the thread trail just take a left on the road that crosses east main, cross the wwc entrance road and ride gravel road until you see water treatment entrance. turn left or right on trail and go until you have to turn around.  ride until you get opposite end and turn around.  ride to the gravel road and head back up until you get back to east main or cut out at parking lot.  problem solved.  figure 8 is one of my favorite sections out there but i realize that wwc has added many miles of really nice trail since they took over the maintenance out there and I trust them to make good again when done.  this is coming from one of the primary trail gnomes that got displaced when it happened so just get over it and ride.

I haven't been out there in a while but I do remember seeing wringing on surveying stakes... Saying tower corner and other things that lead me to believe that it's an addition to the zip line  system... One of the few things that actually makes them money year round... I could be wrong...

Trail closure for construction at the WWP has never stopped anyone from riding there.

Ah, as all the group rides that happened there during that time were not organized on a forum they didn't "officially" happen.  Got it   Roll Eyes

As in the trail was "officially" closed during that time.

Trying to figure out where you're driving with this and seems to be right off a cliff...

Sorry if I missed this in the above chat.

WWC is building a loop for the Carolina Thread section so you do not have to do an out and back.  Should be nice... everything else they have done the last few years certainly is. 2c

Cool... thanks for the update. Do you know if there will be an easy/intermediate connector between the WWC and the thread trail? It's a very easy trail... suitable for beginners, but having to navigate figure 8 makes it hard for them to get to it.

A loop would be a wonderful thing.  I have a messed up knee from pulling off to let someone by and ended up going down with a knee pile driver to the ground due to ground cover and an unseen hole.
