Just trying to make sure I understand this... The key piece you're after is another one of those spacers?
I assume the rear hub has the same flange as the front hub, and the existing spacer you pulled off the front would bolt up to the rear and put the disc in the correct axial location?
Yes, and still looking for these 3 things:
1. Anyone have some old Avid BB s the want to part with?
2. Any suggestions of where I could purchase / find that "spacer" / adapter? (spacer is about 15mm thick)
3. Anyone know what "grade" of bolt strength is used with discs?

It looks like a difficult piece to get a hold of as a standalone. Probably one of those pieces that are not available for individual sale... If you cannot find one to buy, you might have to get creative in the local hardware store ... unless you know someone with a small fab shop.
I am not really "wanting" to get creative. We are talking brakes here... ;] Really trying to find a source to get the right pieces. Im sure I am probably the only one out there trying to "upgrade a huffy", but taking a shot, someone else out there was bored or doing something like you did for your friend...
