Trips for Kids work day at the Recyclery

Happy New Years Everyone,

I mentioned at the last Trailblazers meeting that I was organizing a work day at the Recyclery to tune up the bike used by Trips for Kids Charlotte for their weekly rides.  We have 50+ bikes to tune up and could use some riders handy with a wrench or just willing to wash bikes and stage bikes to get them ready.  Last year we did almost 40 bikes and were done by mid afternoon.  It was a lot of fun and a great way to keep these younger riders out on the trail having fun.

Date: January 31st 2015
Start at 11am.
Hot dogs and burgers and drinks will be provided.
Below is a link to Trips for Kids which also has a link to the Recyclery and a map.

Please let me know if you would like to join us or if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Hey Tim, I would be glad to do tune ups and help wash the fleet of bikes you have.  I should be available the 31st.  I really appreciate the effort to teach children how to safely ride.  I know biking has impacted my life in a positive way and I would like to help contribute some volunteer time after the 31st also.

I'm in. Should I bring my own tools and stand?

This was an awesome thing to be a part of last year.  The kids have a ton of fun on the rides, but we all know that riding bikes means that someone has to maintain them, too.  Getting the bikes all together in one location with a lot of wrenches turning makes a monumental task easy to accomplish.  Thank you, Tim, for organizing this and inviting the Trailblazer's to come out and help.  If you can come out for this, please do so.  You'll have fun and will be supporting a great cause.  The bike you work on, may just be the thing that puts a huge smile on a child's face.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the interest!!  No need to bring tools at this point. We should have everything we need at the Recyclery. If we end up with a ton of people responding and the weather is great we could always set up a couple extra workstations outside?  Let's play that by ear and and see how things shape up as we get closer to the date.

Thanks again!
Tim

I'll plan on being there. I can't fix or work on anything but I am a fairly decent workhorse so I can clean stuff and carry stuff around.  Smiley

Trips for Kids is not only a marvelous organization, they are a sponsor and large donor to the Trailblazers. They deserve all the support we can give them.

Count me in for whatever you need me to do. Fairly handy with a wrench and even better with a hose and bucket.

See you then Tim,
Larry

It looks like this Sunday will be a perfect day to be at the Re-Cyclery getting all of the Trips for Kids bikes ready for the kids to hit the trails in 2016!  I have enjoyed the great feedback and Paula is incredibly excited to have the Trailblazers be a huge part of the workday this year.  A big huge thank you to everyone planning to join us from 11-5ish this Sunday the 31st at the Re-Cyclery.

Many thanks to all of the Trail Blazers who came to help at the Re-Cyclery today!!  The event was a huge success.  We were able to tune-up over 50 bikes to get ready for the kids to ride this season!!!!

Please join us on some of the weekly rides this season.  You will have so much fun, I guarantee it!  The rides are typically at Francis Beatty Park on Saturday mornings.  Check out the website and Facebook for times and locations.
