Anybody else recovering from knee surgery?

First ride (slow road ride in business park) since August a few weeks ago. Blew knee up mid August with level 3 MCL sprain, and then meniscus surgery in November.

Thinking about trying some light trail work this weekend. Miss being in the woods.

One gear really is enough..but my knees have forced me to go 1x10.

Had 2 ACL's and a broken Tibia. That's 3 rehabs.

Keep ridding the Biz park until you feel confident enough to go else where. If you go to Physical therapy they will have you on the bike for 20 mins. THis is good for range of movement and relieving the fluid and swealing but doesn't do enough to help with knee stability strength. I still had to ride a trainer everyday to keeps the swealing pumped out. A cheap elastic brace will help prevent it from loading up again after riding.

Doing Lunges will help accelerate knee stability so will squats. I also did some back and forth lateral movement with the knee slightly bent. Kinda like you see footabll players do. Stairs can also build the main knee support muscle.

Trailwork could be sketchy due to un even surfaces and tripping over roots. Stick to clean paths. Don't wander off the trail there are too many holes and dips you may not see under those leaves.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

Last Jan 20th had a partial replacement. Was on the exercise bike within 3 weeks and cruising. Feb 19th it got red hot and swollen and I was in the ER with staph in my knee and blood. Had my first replacement replaced the next morning. First ride back on the road on April 1st. Back up to speed on the dirt in due time. June 1st I slid out at Sherman and popped my scar open. 6 more weeks off. Back on the bike again in mid July. Rode 50 at LNSP on my 50th b-day on August 15. Sep 24th I was back under for a torn meniscus on the good side of my replaced knee. Rode a spin class a week later and have been at it ever since, with knee pads now. It was quite a year, and I'm not sorry to see it go. Good luck with your rehab!

Yeah, I had to fight the urge to finish up some stuff at the school trail this morning and go see what Cyclepath was up to at Fisher afterwards. I kinda like trail work in a light snow. Knee and slick uneven surfaces not friends for awhile.
