I can't make it this round, but keep posting up.  Hopefully I can get back out there next time.

Thanks to Mike, Juliet, Eric, Eric, TJ, Steve, Jim, and NC State shirt (i apologize, I forgot your name) for the help this morning. Got the reroute signed and official, old section closed off, and removed a bunch of downed trees from the trail. Thanks also to TJ for whipping up the signs in his shop, and clearing a bunch more trees this afternoon.

Awesome job guys. I was there at noon and the trail was great. Question - there's a spot where it looks like you can go right or left. The right looks like reroute, the left takes you down well established trail. I've been going left (is that correct)? It's right after the (relatively) skinny bridge over the creek.

Yeah, left is correct. Right is the exit from the green reroute. We've got a sign in there now to help with directions.

Awesome. Doesn't look like that much trail was lost in the end - I'm getting about 6.25 riding the Black and Blue route from the tennis courts.

Again, thanks for all the hard work out there.

Specialist - does your 6.25 include the "zig-zag bridge trail" section too? I've been trying to get a milage figure for the whole enchelada.

Walked it yesterday with the wife and dog. Signs look great but it looks like we may need to install a couple additional signs (more for the walkers sake). The new section is now basically a black diamond bypass and thus the bike and walking traffic travel in the same direction through it. This may present a problem with bikes running up behind unaware walkers.

If the walkers are doing the whole blue/green loop it is not an issue, as they walk against bike traffic, but if the walkers are just doing the black diamond loop (as we did yesterday) then they walk in the same direction as the bikes that opt out of the black diamond section.

What/where is the "zig-zag bridge trail"?

Before the change I averaged around 5.6 miles of trail out there starting at the tennis courts.

Am I missing a chunk of trail???

It's the other Beatty "black" section. After you go between the two ponds while on the road, the zig zag bridge section starts right after you re-enter the woods. Instead of the quick left 30 feet into the woods, go straight through the gully, up the opposite gully bank and it goes a bit right from there. Basically, this section parallels the main trail but is a bit longer and a  bit more "technical". It reconnects to the main trail a ways before the tennis courts. It has a fun zig zag bridge (haven't used it in a while) and used to have a teeter toter (gone the way of all non-insurable articulating structures). Definately makes you work harder than the main section it bypasses.

Sorry for the delayed response. Advocat - I have the ride uploaded to Strava so there is a map. I'll pm you for the best way to share it with you.
