Must do Endurance races?

Hey guys, I was planning on doing the Dragons Tale event ( (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)) but realized I have to be up in New Jersey that weekend Sad Now I have this huge gap in April that I'm looking into doing but I'm completely lost on what to do!

Any other good Late March/April events that I should be looking into?

Heres what I have on the calendar so far:
March 6 - Stokesville 60k - Mt Solon, VA
April 30 - Cohutta/Big Frog 65 - Ducktown, TN
May 22 - Pisgah 55k MTB - Pisgah, NC
June 4 - MTB Marathon Championships, Georgia?
June 26 - Iron Mountain 100k - Damascus, VA
July 23 - Wilderness 101, State College, PA maybe? (will be up in NJ that weekend too)
July 31 - Off-Road Assault Mt Mitchell - Old Fort, NC

I thought about venturing down to Georgia for the MTB Marathon National Championships in May, but not sure if it would be worth the trip.

I don't mind traveling or making a weekend out of it, camping, all that good stuff is welcome. Any help or insight will be greatly appreciated!

6 hours of warrior creek. It's sold out but people will invariably sell if they can't make it. It's a jewel of an event.

the 55k will give you a great taste of Pisgah. The 111k is even better

Pisgah 55K is cool, but is a normal pisgah ride...but the 111K is a true endurance race

Pisgah 111k has been on my mind this week.  Nice follow up to Warrior Creek.

I did the 111k/55k weekend last year as part of the King of Pisgah series. Before that I had only done PMBAR once. That was the extent of my "endurance" racing career before attempting the KOP. You dont have to be a super fit racer to attempt these events.

Its a great couple of races to pack into 2 days. Fully supported aid stations with neutral mechanical support, some of the best riding in the southeast, and pretty damn tough if that is what your looking for. I will say that hiking up Black Mtn. at the end of the 111k was a dark place for me but once I was done I was actually looking forward to the 55k on Sunday.

I would definitely recommend those two to anyone looking for a challenge. That race doesn't play favorites like the ORAMM. You have to be solid in your fitness and your bike handling. Lots of techy climbing and descending...

So this event March 13 Assaut on Pisgah's Pilot sounds pretty cool, its a week after I'd be racing in VA at the Stokesville Lodge, but I'm itching to get out to Pisgah since we moved down here....

Not for your March/April timeframe, but I'm registered for this event (50-mile option). Lots of good camping in the area if that's your thing.

I also have my eye on ORAMM in July

There is also the HellHole Gravel Grind in Cordesville SC, September 23, 24 & 25.

45 mile ride, 75 mile race, or 150 mile two day race, with optional prologue on Friday night.  Very well organized event, and very challenging in spite of the lack of hills.

Great write up of last years event at Gravel Cyclist:

Swank 65 (if you can get in) is awesome. A clover leaf that includes Butter Gap, Farlow Gap, Long Branch, Cove Creek etc. The day before is a shortened version called the Couch Potato which includes everything but Farlow Gap. In my opinion, these are way more enjoyable races in Pisgah than some of the others that tend to be death march hike a bike stuff (which I have done). Depends on where you are in your racing career of Joy/Pain or Pain/Pain. Smiley
