Greg, I'll be riding a 29'r single speed Saturday, but might bring the big bike also. We'll ride those heavier bike up on the mountain and ride the lift back to the top!

I might ride a little earlier but I will be there. Sure you will catch me. I have something else I have to do later in the day.

Scott, I hope to see you tomorrow. If not, you are going to come ride Skyline with me this summer?

I don't have a single speed. David Rodden let me borrow his and I must say " I like it!". If I weren't moving to the mountains, I would have to get one. Greg, I look forward to everyone visiting at Snowshoe and riding.

I just wanted to say how much fun I had today. Sheila said that I have a great bunch of friends and she is right. Between the Tarheel Trailblazers and the Lake Norman State Park staff, I feel like a very lucky guy!

Well I missed out on the send off but I will never forget the guy.

It started for me about 12 years ago when David said he meet
this man at NM who was on a big hit bike. I thought it a little over kill
but it's good for the entertainment value. I just didn't have a clue.
David said he was fun to talk and ride with and was calling him
BIG BIKE MIKE. Boy, did that stick! Now he has become my 6th
brother from another mother.

Be safe my friend hope to see you soon.

Kim, I hate you had to work and missed the ride and picnic! We all had a great time. I guess you'll have to visit me at Snowshoe. I do remember when I was working on the rooty climb right after you exit Hick's Creek Loop, you and David rode by and you hollered out "I love you, Brother!". Do you remember that? Now I have lots of brothers and sisters in the Charlotte area. I'll be back pretty often to ride and visit, so maybe we can ride together again. Love you brother!

Had to work at the shop today and sorry we missed the party. ☹️  Mike, thanks for all the hard work and care you gave to so many trails but know that they will be in good hands! Gonna be hard to replace you!!

I've only met/ridden with the legend once or twice - but he helped me out when I was interim TC at SWDP by clearing the trail (chainsaw style) before a group ride.

When I started the group ride, BBM was behind me and haunting my rear wheel, and I thought "Man, he's pretty spry for an old timer..." and then he started hollering "Get it out of granny gear!!" Lol. After that, he was in front of me. Don't let the big bike fool you - that guy is fast.

I think that, in losing him, we've just lost like 50% of our Trail Crew manpower.

Enjoy your retirement amigo - keep riding like you do.

Cheers,

Eric

Yeah Specialist and that was leaving the parking lot if I remember. I tried to keep him in sight at a demo day a few years ago when he was on a carbon hard tail. Needed a fire extinguisher going behind him. Sad to say he is younger than me by a month. Ouch!
Wasn't Mike on a single speed to boot? Grin Embarrassed

It was the bike that gave him his nickname - must've weighed 70 lbs... was it single speed too!!??

Undecided

It isn't natural, I tell you. He must hang out with Lance...

Specialist he was on a SS in the parking lot before and I had hope it would slow him down enough. Maybe it was false hope if he got back on the 'big' bike with gears. Sheeesh!  Huh

Eric, I was on the big bike at SWDP and it only weighs 40 pounds. I was on a 29'r Trek on the demo ride Tom was talking about. I rode David's SS at the party, but never got to air it out.
