Bike Prices??

I've been looking at used bikes on Craigslist. Wow, some people are really proud of a 5-9 year old bike.  I've been looking at Bicycle blue book .com sort of as a reference...  Is that not a good comparison?
Thank you in advance for a little insight.

A lot of people on craigslist tend to think that since they paid "x" amount for their bike 5-6 years ago its still worth 3/4 or more of "x" amount.  These are typically people that don't quite realize how outdated their bikes have become over the years.

Most of us tend to use facebook groups/pink bike and sometimes eBay when looking for deals.

I was browsing CL bike just for &^&^s and giggles and ran across a GT idrve that had to be 15 or 16 years old for $700.00. I couldn't believe me eyes! Would be REAL LUCKY to get $100.00..........

Yeah, I think I'll just look for a new one.  If I'm gonna pay out for one, it might as well be what I really want.

There are still some really good deals to be had out there as you have to dig. It will be the Murphy's law factor thing. As soon as you buy new a KILLER UNBELIEVABLE DEAL will come along. Sometimes it's better to sit on the fence for a little while longer........with Spring rite around the corner there "will" be quite a few killer deals floating around to say the least.

On the flip side you have every person and their mother trying to low ball the crap out of you when you already have said bike or part at a really good deal.

It definitely goes both ways. But I think you are on point with looking at bicycle blue book and you can even reference it when making an offer. It won't offend the buy as easily since you have a source to make your bid on and too show them what they want is not supported by the current market. It could be a way for you to work the price down and for you both to feel you got a good deal.

cash is king.  Know what your willing to pay and make an offer.  Make sure you set a time when your offer expires.  That way you do not have three people willing to take your offer at the end of the month because rent is due.

When you see a killer deal jumping on it is the thing to do.
My son just sold his bike, the buyer asked him for a few extra details as he saw the bike had several upgrades to it that were not noted in the listing. He jumped on it as he knew what the upgrades were worth.

Stop sniffing and start PMing as your "Killer Deal" has arrived!!!!

Now belly up to the bank and seal the deal unless you want a large or small frame bike!
