New Trail Going in.

Live close to Highway 74 and 51?

There is a new trail going in right off Phillips road and 51 right below Butler High School. Looks like a potnetial 4/5 mile trail with some cool terrain. We are just starting to flag/mark the property.  Would love to have some people get involved with this NOW while we are in the flagging process. We can literaly start building any time.

Contact me or Tom A  with any questions  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

When is the next visit to the property? Wouldn't mind helping flagging and walking the proposed route. Plus I'm relatively close by.

I grew up as a kid playing in those woods! I should be able to provide a hand when I'm not working at Beatty, just send me a message and let me know when you're heading out.

In your orginal post were you implying that there is room for a 4 to 5 mile trail or a four fifths of a mile trail?

Hope this new trail with interesting terrain will be something really new for around here and not just another trail.  I'd love to see something like the BYT jumpline and pipe dream line, a downhill flowing jumpline with big jumps and gaps for advanced riders.  Would be glad to help dig.

The Town of Matthews allready had A XC type of trail in mind when they came to us. I'm sure we will stick in a few fun features in along the way, but it will be far from a down hill run.

Mike Vandeman  I think that dude just cuts and pastes the same old tired rant on everyone of these posts.  He's an A #1 tool.

Great article, BTW!  (They seriously need to proof read for content and spelling, though.)

I can't see the comments but I know how crazy the observer comments get...

Just curious what did he say?  Huh

Basically how MTB destroys the environment and trails should only be for hiking, how its dangerous, etc, etc.

If he's that concern about it he needs to make sure they leave the poison ivy, oak, dead trees and everything else that gets removed on the hiking only trails he frequents as those are part of the environment as well...

My backyard backs right up to this property off Winding Trail.  I could probably pitch in and help sometimes.

First off, great story.  Great publicity about the TB and the trail work that TB's do. MTB is a great way to connect humans with nature.  I am pretty sure the squirrels don't really care about us.    That wacko that replied to the observer story is truly troubled.  He knows nothing about the real culture of MTB.  that guy actually attacked 2 mountain bikers a few years ago with a saw or something in California. he got arrested and went to jail.   he is crazy, crazy... he cites the same old stuff, and stories every time he re-posts an article or something... he's like a super famous villian against MTB

here are his charges that he was found guilty of:
- exhibiting a deadly weapon: guilty
- exhibiting a deadly weapon at victim1: guilty
- battering victim2: guilty

he spent 22 days in an orange jumpsuit picking up trash or something demeaning...

he also is banned from his favorite trails for years....
