Transition Lenses or Not?

Does anyone use transition (auto darkening) lenses on the trail? Do they work well (don't darken) biking in the woods?

I'm deciding between the just plain clear ones or transition ones? These are going to be prescription glasses so no swapping out lenses.

I would like the transition ones for riding road but I just want to make sure they would still work well (stay clear) in the woods.

Didn't answer your question...

I use transitions lenses and I like them very much.  They darken relatively quickly and are clear indoors.  I don't think you will have a problem with them darkening too much on the trail

When you first walk into the movie theater, you are blind. I like transitions though. Been wearing them a good long time. But they don't work behind a polarized shield, say like a windshield

My prescription is not far off so I can still ride with out glasses. I just thought it may be more beneficial for more clarity down the trail.  I think i'll go with the transition and if they don't work for trail I'll just use them for the road and outdoor events.  And to "Douglas"  I'm staying away from polarized I don't feel it's something that I need. Thanks you all of your help.

I have them as well but can't stand them outside on cloudy days.  It's UV rays that darken them and that's problematic on an overcast day.  Otherwise they're fine...except in the car with UV blocking glass. Tongue
