Beatty Suggestion (Love it....no complaints)

Sirnotappearing and Gravitythief.......love Beatty....Thanks for all you do!  I ride Beatty a good bit.  Usually when I'm pressed for time since it's close the the house and 1 lap is short.   Here is a thought........if you do a single lap you have to choose the high side route or the bottom route below the basketball courts.  Not both.  When you could night ride anytime (not sure if that was ever legal but back in the day but nobody ran you off) I would ride the upper route then the lower route backwards and return via the upper route again.  This added 1+ miles and allowed you to cover 100% of the trail with just 1 lap.

Would it make sense to incorporate the lower route into a full lap by changing the direction of the lower route?

Thanks for all you do.....Beatty is a gem of a trail...If you judge a trial by the # of users (Riders, Runners, Walkers and Even the Sheep Dog lady) I would guess that Beatty would be ranked #1????

Thank you for all the kind words and thank you for the suggestion. Honestly never thought to do it that way.  We don't really maintain that section of trail because once upon a time there was a significant chance we were going to lose it. The master plan for beatty includes a perimeter walking trail (read gravel path) that was originally going to cannibalize a lot of the mountain bike trail. We ( former trail management ) came up with an alternate routing for the walking trail that involved giving up  that second black diamond  to save the rest of the trail. At this point I don't think the walking trail is going to happen but technically it's still could so we haven't gotten too attached to that stretch of trail .  We have a couple of other pressing projects going on out there right now but your suggestion is something we will take under advisement. Thanks !

I like it! Entrance/exit shapes would need to be redone, but it wouldn't take much more than that and signage.

Just think of all the roots it would add to a single lap. Why I bet no other trail could touch the root/lap ratio.

This is one of those "duh, why didn't I think of that moments for me"

Great idea

The lower black diamond route is better backwards anyway...  especially through the rock garden...much easier going down that...

If you do that then you are missing out on the true black obstacles. What makes that nice is the hard root climbs going up and the log rolls. Going the opposite way you just make it another green trail rolling down hills.

This must be a TB record....6 responses to a suggestion and only 1 was not totally supportive!  I agree the lower section is harder in the current CC direction....the counter to this point is it's more fun in the opposite (CW) direction.....the lips/ledges become drop offs in the reverse direction and it seems to flow a little better......the added miles to a single lap seem to win the day.   The rocks by the creek might just be the most beautiful part of the park....lots of riders have never see this section.....And we know the trail needs more roots!  Plenty in the lower section....yea!  You could bring back the see-saw....tried it twice.....not successful both times!!!

Thanks again........
