Im looking to upgrade or get a new seat for the mountain bike.  I know everyone is made different and different seats are great for different types of people.... is there a shop that will let  you demo a seat or has a fixed bike in the store that would let you sit on different seats to feel a difference?..... What different type saddles are you using?  Ive looked at WTB and Fizik, but havnt test rode anything.   Thanks

Specialized Henge Comp has been a durable, comfortable, acceptable weight, acceptable price saddle for me.

I'm on the WTB Pure V, which is a pretty popular saddle. Comfy and inexpensive. Good idea on getting out there and putting your rump on some seats before you pull the trigger.

My Tallboy came with a WTB Volt and my butt couldn't wait to get rid of that thing.  I put a Specialized Phenom comp on and love it.

WTB Volt on all my Bikes.  Best Saddle ever, which proves its very rider specific.  When you find the one that works for you, you will know it.

Some shops will let you trade them back in if it does not work for you.

I know The Cycle Path has one of these.

I know Bontrager lets you use theirs for 30 days. Their expensive, and take time to break in. But Brooks would be the best for long term comfort. They have a lot of styles available. If you want cheap, go for a Nashbar FR1 Saddle. It has ti rails

WTB Silverado for me. Comfy and tuff as nails durable. No need for those diaper like padded bike shorts. Came with the bike and just love it.

I also ride the Specialized Pheonom.  Very lightweight, simple design.

Some saddles out there, I don't know how people can use them.  I had a Fizik Gobi come with a bike a while ago and it just seemed insane to me that anyone could find comfort with that ass-hatchet... just goes to show that everyone's physiology is different.  It's very important to find one that fits correctly though - lots of sensistive parts down there that you don't want to put undue pressure on.  GL

Whatever brand/style you get, make sure it fits you.  Specifically, make sure the width matches up well with the width of your "sit bones".  Google "sit bone measurement" or something like that and you'll find some guides to show you how to measure them.

My brand of choice has been Selle Italia for both MTB (SLR Titanium) and road (SLR Kit Carbonio Flow).  Hey, I love my pasta!   Cheesy  They are well made and durable enough for me.  Probably not the most economical, but they make numerous versions for different purposes, widths, and at different price points.  I also have an SDG (Falcon Ti-Alloy) which has been great, but its not as comfy due to being a little too wide for my skinny butt.  It's been very durable and the padding is a little cushier than on my Selle's.
