Really?

So I counted about 20 cigarette butts on the ground. Most of them were very fresh. THere were only 2 different brands. So how many more need to be thrown down before 1 could be put in the trash can. Heck it is close enough you don't even have to get off your lazy ass to deposit them. REALLY?

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

To a Smoker the world is their ash tray.
Cars have ash trays and the butts are still tossed out the window.
Cans next to a bench, on the ground they go.

Jerry, that's the way smokers are. They don't respect their bodies and lungs, so why should they respect the earth. I hate to be around the stinking dummies!! They even smell bad when their not smoking.

I smoked for 20 so I get it, but what I dont get was it appears to be a repeat offender that is chainsmoking there on a regular basis. You just don't see that many butts from the same brand in one place.
The picture doesn't really show how many were down there.

Having been a smoker in the past the only thing I can add is maybe they put them there instead of the trash can so as not to set the trash can on fire.  Don't laugh because it happens quite frequently.  Otherwise I was guilty in the past of doing the same thing.

Now if you put an ash tray out there they will probably use it. Smiley

There are always excuses for why cigarette butts are on the ground (or flung out of car windows).  It's littering no matter how you chalk it up.  If you want to smoke, you're responsible for properly disposing of the trash.

On a side note, I feel the same way about trash left on the trails.  Hopefully this doesn't derail quickly, but I'm tired of seeing goo gel packets on the ground.  I ride WWC center a lot and I see them all too often.  I try to pick up as much as I can, but I'll fill my pockets long before all of them are picked up.  I personally use clif bloks so that I can keep them in my pocket and not have a bunch of trash to carry around.  Seems to work well and you only have one packet that needs to be thrown out when finished riding.

People using goo gel packets are, very likely, folks that should know better than to throw them on the ground!  Just a friendly reminder.  Leave no trace.   Smiley
