PRP Construction Begins

Was out blowing the middle third of PRP and came across heavy equipment which had started some clearing and flags laid for the swath of the greenway connection.  Will get out there tonight to re-route, shouldnt lose more than a quarter mile for now.

Do what you like. Stop hating people for their riding habits and get back to hating them for their skin color, religion, politics, and sexual orientation.

Yeah for the 100 yards or so they need to clear, that machine seems a little overkill...  I want to ask the construction guys if theyd help us rebuild the entrance/exit to that middle third but havent seen any actual people out there yet.  Will be working with Scott and co. on a long term plan for rebuilding the entrance/exit, as of this morning it was still fully accessible (dodging the house sized fron-end loader of course).  I figure that will change soon.

Out scouting with Scott (and Mia) last night, construction is getting real.  there is more flagging than originally thought on the lowest section of trail that parallels the creek.  Will keep coordinating with Scott as to the overall open/closed status of the trail during construction.

Not a sidewalk,  a 10 to 12 foot asphalt road lovingly called a green way built strong enough that Duke power can drive over it with their heavy equipment and not destroy it.

I think it's this wide for the monster bridge that is going in along with a big a$$ crane to lift it into place across the creek. 187 feet in 2 pieces. Might have to close that part of the trail until they are done. Calling greenway people this morning to set up a meeting about reroutes. Harry and I figured out a way to redo the trails just need to check with Doug and a few others. 2 years or so to go.

Scott, I need a big $$s crane to lift the big cherry tree off my suv. We had some bad storms this morning and that very large tree in front of the house fell across the back of the Mazda. Time for another vehicle! At least it didn't hit the house!

Thanks!  She's a great trail dog, always comes out to work with me.  Went out there this morning and talked with the crew thats doing the clearing work, they felt bad about having to knock out parts of the trail but reassured us it'll come back strong.

Lots of progress on the greenway connector including laying and compacting the subsurface that the pavement will be poured onto.  This is also extended into the wastewater plant where the fences have been moved and it looks like we can now see the point where the bridge will reach the PRP side.  Some markers remain in the woods where we dont quite know yet if more trail will be affected.  will post pics soon.

Have ridden PRP a few times in the last month and every time i start the main section where the construction has been progressing there seems to be someone laying down limbs to block the entrance and other parts of the trail.  Does anyone know if this is intentional?  Should we enter the trail behind the field or somewhere else? THanks.
