and don't inhale the water either. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Sad story about the young woman.

But the chance of getting it is much less than winning the lottery, getting struck by lightning or dying in a plane crash. As an example. Everyday people are swimming in warm fresh water sources. Prime habitat for this amoeba. Between 1962 and 2015 there were only 138 cases in the U.S.

Something to consider. If exposed to the elements there is no such thing as 100% sterile water. Not out of your tap, not in your swimming pool and nope, not at the WWC either.

If you're still worried about it and want maximum protection, wear a nose plug (yes, it's still possible you gulp some water and it ends up in your sinuses). Most people in the know maintain positive pressure in their nose when their head is submerged. This means when you hold your breath your mouth is closed. But you allow the air from your lungs to keep the water out of your nose. You can even blow bubbles out of your nose if you like.

And one more thing. If you use a Netty pot or a similar device for rinsing your nostrils, don't use tap water unless it's been boiled. Or just use distilled water.

I ride wwc several times a week and for the first time in twenty years of riding there, I have found ticks crawling on me.  At least five over the past month.

What sections did you ride?

I feel like it's coming from academy.
