It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to bring such bad news. One of own, Jeff Archer owner of First Flight Bicycles in Statesville, was killed while crossing Williamson Rd in Mooresville today.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Jeff played a huge role in getting MTB trails at LNSP.  He was also a great cycling advocate for Statesville and the local Iredell county area.

I am speechless and dumbfounded to hear this news.  Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends.   Cry

Shocking and sad. This hits so close to home since we probably all knew him. Can't believe it.  Rest in Peace Jeff.

~Just posted from another page 20 minutes ago ~
Good morning everyone, I just spoke with Sharon Archer and she wanted me to let everyone know how thankful her and Carl are for all the help last night and the prayers from everyone. They are both doing as well as can be expected and she will let me know what arrangements are going to be for Jeff and I will pass them on to everyone. We love you guys and are sending prayers your way ~

Very sad. Jeff was a great Guy. I spent the whole afternoon at his shop just last week listening to some great stories-I even squeezed in a last minute vote on his behalf for the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame induction

My thoughts and prayers go out to Wes and his Family

RIP Jeff

Years ago I wanted info about my Grove Innovations bike, a plain triangle steel vintage frame.  Jeff took one look and said that's not a Grove.  It was painted blue and had the right Grove decals but Jeff said, "That bike is a Brave Racer by Tom Teesdale."  He then shows me one upstairs.  How many people have that kind of knowledge about our sport?  The world just lost the most knowledgeable historian of mountain bikes.  I feel really bad for his family, employees, and close friends.

What a bummer.  Never met the guy but clearly he had a huge impact on the community and from everything I've read as down to earth as they come.  As a family man it hurts to read he left behind a wife and two kids.  Hopefully he's biking in heaven. RIP Embarrassed

Another good memorial article on pinkbike, it looks like Jeff really had a positive impact on a lot of people's lives...

Thank you all for your kind words. Jeffs memorial service will be tomorrow, 7/24/2016 (Sunday) at Western Ave Baptist Church in Statesvile at 3PM.

DO NOT WEAR A TIE, Jeff will look down on you and scowl if you do!

We are also hoping to stream the service live via the First Flight Bikes Facebook page, so that people who can't make the service will still be able to watch and participate.
We are asking that in lieu of flowers, people consider donating to the North Carolina chapter of NICA. Since Jeff was such a huge advocate for mountain biking, this seems like a fitting way to continue that legacy. You can donate by visiting (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) and putting "Jeff Archer" in the referral box.
