I am on the hunt for a 29er for a co-worker. He is a roadie but his son is really getting into trail riding so now he wants a bike to be able to go with him. He is fine with a hardtail but for the right bike would be down with full suspension too. 

He rides a 54 cm road bike and is about 5'10" so I think a medium/17.5" is probably the right size.
Budget is about $1000.

Shoot me a PM. I'm reassembling my Genesis High Latitude 29er and planned to post it in the next few days. Size medium, 100mm Reba, Mavic/DT 350 wheels, XT components, etc.  And under his budget.
