Another big shout out to Ultimate Bike!

So I was riding yesterday out at Sherman and had my swing arm bust apart on me.  After a nice walk out from the lake loop, I got on the phone with Ultimate.  They informed me that it wouldn't be covered by warranty since I wasn't the original owner and it was too old regardless.

Kyle got on the computer and then on the phone with Trek to try to find me a replacement.  Mike walks into their back room and comes out with a swing arm off of another bike they had worked on and it was a near perfect match.  It was black and my bike isn't but who cares.  I don't see color anyway...

Mike threw me a price $3500, which Kyle pointed out should come with a free bike, and then a realistic price and then in under 45 minutes Kyle had me out the door on a perfectly operating bike.

When the frame broke I thought I would be hunting for a bike for awhile and really not having a new bike in the budget right now, was fearful I'd be without a bike for awhile.  I realize I got incredibly lucky with Ultimate having the swing arm on the shelf, but I can't tell you how appreciative I am of how fast they got me back up and running and doing so at a very fair price.
I've been bringing my bike to Ultimate since I moved out to their area and I've always left there feeling like I've gotten top quality service at a fair price.

Thanks Kyle!

I owe you guys a six pack and maybe some wings.

Dave

Wow, I have the exact same bike - root beer and all. Good news you got service, but how did you break it? Riding Sherman shouldn't cause that sort of failure.

In hind-sight there were signs of a problem a couple of rides previous to the actual break, but I couldn't figure out where the problem was.  When I would leave the ground or take a hard drop of any sort I would hear my rear tire rub.  I assumed it was my suspension needing to have the pressure adjusted.  I had checked my bike a couple of times trying to detect where it was rubbing and why but never even considered the swing arm could be cracked/failing.  I got lucky in the fact that when it did finally fail it was over a small bump/rock.  It wasn't far after the river crossing in the lake loop, so that may have stressed it enough to be the final push.

As I've mentioned, it could've been a whole lot worse, but when it broke and having to repair it.  I didn't get hurt and Ultimate had the bike back up and running in under an hour.

I did a ride on the replaced swing arm this morning and everything worked great.
